One Individual's Unclaimed Luggage Is Another Person's Treasure, Thanks to This Store
The fear of our luggage being lost by an airline when we fly is one we all have. No matter how many safe travels we've endured, we're still waiting for the time our luggage disappears and never returns.

Well, in the off chance that does happen, at least there's potential for it to find a new home. Or for you to buy it yourself.
Allow us to introduce you to Unclaimed Baggage, an Alabama-based superstore selling lost baggage. And they are currently the only retailer doing so.
You're likely curious to know how this works. Where do they get the luggage? When is a bag considered lost? As the superstore's website note, "If a bag is truly lost, airlines pay out a claim to the passenger. It’s only after an extensive three-month search that an unclaimed bag is deemed truly orphaned, a fate realized by less than 0.03% of all checked luggage! That’s where we come in."
Once the luggage is left to fend for itself, Unclaimed Baggage rescues it to give it a second home. They work with domestic airlines, along with other travel and transportation companies to sell these abandoned items.
Somewhat similar to thrifting, shopping at Unclaimed Baggage is essentially an eco-friendly way to purchase a variety of new items for yourself. Rather than relying on fast fashion, you can repurpose clothing, electronics, and more, giving them the second life they deserve.
Though Unclaimed Baggage currently only has one store in Alabama, they recently opened an online store. So if you're not in Alabama, you can still purchase goods online. You'd be surprised at some of the unusual finds you'll see on there.
